The Xel-Ha Inlet is an aquarium free of walls and glass panes, without man-made lights or feeding mechanisms, which every visitor should be allowed to explore with equal freedom. And so Xel-Ha has been designed to accommodate everyone, from first time swimmers to expert snorkelers.

There is a creature in Xel-Ha with the natural instinct to assist an injured diver by pushing him to the surface. They have been known to surf for the pure fun of it. Perhaps you don't have any diving experience or don't even know how to swim. If you can breathe and walk, you can Sea Trek! You journey will begin at a depth of 3 feet and continue through stunning underwater landscapes inhabited by more than 90 marine species such as friendly parrotfish, doctorfish, angelfish, multicoloured snappers, pink conch and sergeant majors.

Breathing in a Sea Trek diving helmet is no different from how you breathe every day. Three times the amount of air needed for normal breathing is delivered to the helmet; and all tours are led by trained Sea Trek professionals.

Snuba Doo allows young kids (4 to 7 years old) to join their older siblings, parents, or family members on a shared Snuba experience. Their airline is attached to the same snuba raft, so the little ones cruise along the surface while their family Snuba dives below.

All children wear a highly adjustable floatation device, which provides full time surface buoyancy, and breathe through a scuba style child size regulator.

The exciting world of cenotes is at reach, with a little help from Snuba, a system that by means of an airline connected to a compressed air cylinder that floats on the surface and follows your every move, allows you to explore a cenote at depths of up to 6 m, without being an experienced scuba diver.

Below the dark layer to which it owes its name, the "Black Lagoon" provides you with a glimpse of the exciting world of CENOTE EXPLORATION. Natural dyes from surrounding mangrove trees seep into the lagoon to create a layer of darker water that lies on the surface, and hides an amazing world of mysterious caves and lively vegetation.

Xel-Ha is the only place in the world where you can plunge into a cenote and explore Nature's most hidden secrets. It is safe, easy, entertaining, amazing, and... you do not need scuba diving experience.

Xel-Ha is a unique location in all facets of underwater exploration.

Only the fjords bordering the Arctic Ocean share the specific characteristics caused by the simultaneous phenomena of halocline and thermocline, witnessed in Xel-Ha. Warm, dense, salty water from the sea, which cannot immediately combine with cool freshwater of lesser density, produces this visual effect reminiscent of a mirage. Whilst swimming, a separate layer of liquid can be seen on the surface, like water on oil, but this is in fact freshwater floating above seawater of greater density.

Xel-Ha houses over 70 recorded species of freshwater and seawater fish, including yellowtails, parrotfish, surgeonfish, jackfish, sergeant majors, grunts, snappers, bonefish, stingrays, chubs, doctorfish, and an occasional barracuda. The endangered queen conch inhabits Xel-Ha under careful monitoring and protection.

At almost every pier, there are all-sized lifejackets available for no cost. There are six snorkel equipment distribution centers located around the inlet.

In 2008, as part of a rescue program performed by federal authorities in Tabasco, two manatee exemplars were handed over to Xel-Ha for their safekeeping, and as the happy outcome of the care provided at our park, the youngest one, Bo'ol, was born in captivity.
